Thing 23 My thoughts

I really enjoyed the program it made me realize that there is more out there that we can use to improve our way of teaching an can give us new perspectives on how to reach the students socio emotional learning experience, 23 this is a program that most go on and growing to maybe and why not 23 thing 2.0
Who knows we might have more tools in the future that we can realize that we have right know.

Thing 22 Nings

Ning is nice but it resembles other links and tools we have just use , but i do believe that noting in a tool can be bad, is just the way you use it the one thing that can be wrong. Ning is a nice social networking tool for those going in the fast line and they want to make an impact on other viewers.

Thing 21 creating a podcast

I do really hope i can use this podcast we created in summer school from one of the students, she research information from Cameroon, she is in third grade I just hope my blog has space to hold it.
My intent fail since the file is just 56 mb, i think i will better use a video photo story that i created for a nice friend in the district. enjoy.

Thing 20 Podcast

Love pod casting, is a nice way to have the students attention and an other way to explain things while your hands, imagination and activboard cant, like adaptions and other science content that you cannot take the student to it, for some videos you might need to be a member to able to see the html code for other like this alphabet song you will find it on the bottom right side of the video display. enjoy.

Thing 19 web 2.0 award list

A nice web page that i found int his awards was Lulu, you might think is an ordinary amazon page where you can just surf and buy book, on Lulu is different, since I notice it has even better prices that those in Amazon, the other link that I analyse was docstock, is a very handy page with a lot of different documents like , legal, educational, research and other to be downloaded if you have the willingness to pay, is also a nice way to get basis contracts or research results by third party's to be use as samples.

Thing 18 Online productivity tools

I went directly to the Open Office link since is the one i have been using at school with the students, and i love it, why you might ask, well is much friendlier that office vista. The disadvantage well apparently none but just the names of the applications is slight different but if you manage to know the array of it you are on the other side. This tool is fast simple and free of license and it helps you put a dot in the window if you know what a mean.

Thing 17 Rollyo

Nice searching tool, all in one it makes it easier for the students to go in to specific contents of the web with out letting them wonder around the web to (" bad sites ") , I will truly recommend this tool to all the teachers out there.
Just remember some basic things while setting the rollyo , you need to be using firefox to be ale to use the search engine, since I'm using my personal computer I wont try to upload the firefox, since I had several bad issues with links and virus.

Thing 16 Learn about wikis

I never thought to place in wikis as a part of an online Lesson plan sharing experience, but these past summer school we where using a personalize wiki page to post ideas, lesson plan comments and ways to approach situations that the students where creating using the PBL model.
Wikis are as any tool a great assets to any one and these also demand a lot of commitment to be use by every one in the community of the that surrounds the wiki page you just created.
Some famous wiki pages that I can think of is wikipedia.org, but as in any public sharing site, the information in these page can be 50 /50 real or changes to the believe of the writer.

Thing 15 Web 2.0 and the future of libraryes.

What can we say, with technology advancing faster and faster in our lives seems like regular libraries place a side, but I don't think so , as long as there is some on in charge of keeping track of the collective knowledge libraries will stay.
Away from the icebergs: is a wide open minder and pushes us to remember that not every one is expendable, at times we can think that we are but if we believe that we will become expendable,. Librarians and libraries have a limited budget I agree, but is the way the use those resources the ones that makes them more valuable. Teaching others how to research is a NEED more and more these days where the population is going faster and faster and the information is at the hands of every one in any place. I do agree with the article Monopolising the knowledge data base has going to the pass long time ago.
In to the new world of Librarianship and to more power full ways to cooperate : these 2 articles have a way to describe that it doesn't matter the job or your function in a place is the individual the ones that gives out a personal touch to his/her paper roll in life, the better he decides to his/her assignments the more productive the environment will be for every one in the need of assistance. These also out knowledge the fact that we need to be aware of what is changing out for every one is also going to have an impact on ourselves an the way we do things, we need to keep on growing with the need and wants of the community at hand.

Thing 14 Tagging information

Tagging information is a good option to use when you want to have everything organized and in 1 place at the time you need it, is like and electronic tool box.
When ever you are tagging be considerate on how much you tag in you blog you might overwhelm it and turn it in to an unreadable page in the web.

Thing 12 Commenting

Commenting is essential ; using a proper argument will helps us know what the others see in the world and their likes and dislikes. Just remember to use an easy writing language and manners when commenting keep in mind that others might not see what you think is true and vice-versa.

Polemic on the other hand is good for the development of knowledge, we cannot take for granted everything we see and hear, talking to others is always and enrichment experience.

Comments help keep thing a live and running for a loner period of time.

Thing 13 Tags and social bookmarking

Delicius is a nice web site to start but it might not be the best on a safety point of view, I will recommend to the users to have their ant virus well tuned to avoid bad surprises, 3 of the links i found like the portal to the Maya underworld from National geographic has a Trojan virus. These doesn't mean that all the tags a bad or have something wrong, just be cautious.
On the other hand Furl has a better presentation and a more easy to use navigation area; tags are really help full and more if you are in the middle of a research project even for third graders, if you teach them properly they can learn to tag or bookmark pages with the information they are looking for and be able to retrieve it later on, it can be use but requires a lot of practice and commitment, on both sides of the equation.

Thing 11 Lybrary Things

Is a nice tool for upper grades most likely I'm still trying to figure it out on how to add it in the classroom but i haven't got any ideas so far, never the less is a nice refresher tool for reviving boos that i read, or wonder to intrigue on other books that open my mind to read them.
Also heads up some of the groups might have ajoker or 2 on the forum so you might also consider reading ahead of the game before you put the students in to the action.

Thing 10 Image generators

Is really nice to see all things you can do, I have created a Magazine cover as well as other traiding cards, i will try to use it as an incetive next year to see among my students who can collect the most card from all the teachers around the campus maybe I might start a fasion trend on trading cared from teachers other cool thing was to create a magazine cover for projects this is a very nice tool enjoy.

Thing 9 Using google blog search and bloglines search

Well for starters, the google search throw out a lot of different web pages, and mos of them where way off track so better be care full on this tools some are good and others a just tools that serve multi purposes that will take you no where most of the time.
The most confusing tool for me is syndic8 since it displays an overwhelming first page that confuses you. Most likely the easiest one to use is the topix.net since you can narrow in the first page your search by zip code.
On the other hand is sad to say that the parent control I have installed on my home PC as well as the district pc is not letting me use this engine, the message reads content forbidden, i did mess around to much with this one so most likely i will use the google blog search.

Thing 8 about RSS

What do I like about RSS readers, well i love the idea of simplicity around having track on every subject is interesting to me, I even created more that 5 rss on my google account, weather, sports, news, and other pages.
How can we use this technology, well is really nice and for higher grades the students can keep track of assignments by teachers in a Short but effective way.
How the teachers , librarians can use this and also the Adm. well there is bunch of high priority information running around so the best track that you can have or follow up will be the best like the modifications to the TEKS, changes in the school environment, lesson plans on the new software, etc etc..

Thing 7 Cool Google Tools that might google

I google Calendar
I have tried to use the I google Calendar and is a nice tools but I wont bet on using it more than the calendar that we can get from out look, don't get me wrong is a nice tool but sincerely is a repetition of a basic tool that you can use directly from outlook with out so much trouble and more wide access to share event to groups of people ; and besides as much as i tried to attache my calendar to this blog I couldn't, not even with the help mention in their small video talk. Use it and have fun but don't say I didn't warm you, and if you figure it out please tell me it will be a nice touch.
The calendar is a nice tool to teach the students how to manage time and organization techniques, remember students at home need as much support and steady scheduling as in the school.
My calandear is share for all spring branch personal under my email.
I google Maps using Google earth http://earth.google.com is a nice handy tools to show other places in the planet , and why no to star a lesson on communities and cites, showing if the map allows it other places with nice detail of their streets and where abouts.
Good luck

Thing 6 Mashups

Bookr is a really nice tool with the basic structure to create a small paper bag book that the students can enjoy and why not create a small journal, the hardest part was to give it shape since it doesn't allow you to much maneuverability in it, but since my main concern was on the students i guess is all right, and event so will start using it as a part of the curriculum next year, Who knows we might have an other Dan Brown among us some day.

O by the way the book i created was Thirsty4science but i couldn't retrieve it or save it the net keep on ending Internet errors on that spot i guess I should have subscribe to the web page

Thing 5 Flicker experience

Is really nice to notice that we can get more out of the Internet than a bunch of advertisements, this sites where you share photos and Tag them with electronic labels is great, it really helps you get all the information that you need, for example the pictures that I got will aid me in creating a sequence for Science and L.A.

Don't be afraid of mixing it up a little bit is good to spice L.A with a little science from once in a while.
Enjoy.

Thing 2 These are the easiest and hardest habits I have as a long life learner:

I believe that my best habit in a long life learner life is to teach and mentor others, Teaching has become a skill and a imbedded dedication that almost all the subjects and contents are easy for me to explain to others, but to be honest it has also happen to me at times I just have a white outlook and a thought “ Can I really explain this ….” , but with out second thought I just do it, and it works.
The hardest habit for me to break is not multitasking and concentrate on just one objective or goal, some might see this as an a disadvantage but I do believe it has always give me the edge on teaching and explaining concepts where other struggle more.

Thing 1 The blogging experience

Hello every one, Blogging has become another way to express in a cybernetic community you might think this process is very hard to accomplish and most likely impossible for the new users of the internet; but with so many tools at hand one can easily create different blog pages, and with a wide variety of content all the time.

I really like to encourage you to visit one of the links on like Blogger to start your own page, and enjoy the multiple functions that you can have at hand.

Later on I will be posting some lesson plans for science, some experiments that might go wrong but you can take some learning out from them.
